Lyndsey’s involvement with arts and culture has been a life-long journey. As the daughter and granddaughter of both performing and visual artists, Lyndsey was always experiencing art forms such as music, painting, theater, cooking, photography, and others as a child.
Her earliest memories include:
Collaborative performances with her sisters in the living room (including matching outfits!).
Watching her grandfather paint sets and perform for community theater productions.
Begging her dad to play drums in the garage while she followed along on buckets.
Lyndsey has always loved creating, imagining, playing, and performing for a crowd.
As she grew older, Lyndsey began studying voice, flute, and piano. Though she learned how to sing, harmonize, and understand rhythm by listening to music with her sisters, she honed her instruments and learned how to read music in school and church.
By middle and high schools she had joined several school, church, and state choirs, and she played flute/piccolo in the school marching band and pit orchestra. In addition, she participated in community theater and landed supporting roles in musicals like Anything Goes (Erma), The Pajama Game (Poopsie), and Once Upon a Mattress (Jester).
Lyndsey loves sports as much as music, and she played soccer and basketball in her youth. She played varsity basketball at Delsea Regional High School, eventually attaining captainship and MVP awards. She also found time to be involved in many clubs and student government. In 2004, Lyndsey was voted onto the New Jersey Association of Student Councils, where she honed valuable skills in leadership, communication, and service. Lyndsey graduated from high school at the top of her class and was awarded the prestigious Faculty Bowl at Delsea’s 2005 graduation ceremony.
Lyndsey attended The Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College from 2005-2009 and graduated summa cum laude for Bachelor of Arts in Music (Voice) with concentrations in Jazz Studies and Musicology. She was fortunate to study voice with Gwynne Geyer and Dr. Kathleen Sasnett, composition and arranging with Dr. John “Buzz" Jones, and jazz/improvisation with Dr. Paul Austerlitz.
While at Gettysburg, Lyndsey was the featured vocalist for the Gettysburg College Jazz Ensemble big band and Jazz Dispatch combo group, and she toured Italy and Greece with the bands in 2008. She also participated in various choral and instrumental ensembles within the Conservatory.
Her favorite ensemble was the student-led a cappella group called The Four Scores. She was a member of the Scores for all four years, and she arranged music and directed the group for three. In 2008 she single-handedly organized a 10-year reunion weekend for former Four Scores members and was able to gather over 75 alumni for the festivities as well as another 500 people to attend the public concert.
Though Lyndsey’s musical endeavors were a big part of her undergraduate career, she never lost sight of her passion for sports. She played Ultimate (frisbee) at Gettysburg for four years, captaining both the co-ed and women’s teams and serving on the executive board for three of those years. While studying abroad in Melbourne, Australia she played Ultimate at the Australian University Games, representing The University of Melbourne in this prestigious national tournament.
During her time in Melbourne, Lyndsey studied Improvisation at The Victorian College of the Arts with incredible musicians such as Alex Pertout, Robert Vincs, Ashley Cross, and Nilusha Dassenaike.
Lyndsey performed two junior recitals – one in Melbourne and another in Gettysburg the following spring. During her senior year, she completed an undergraduate thesis and a senior capstone recital featuring over 30 musicians. Her thesis, titled "Where Have All the Flower Children Gone? Post 9/11 Protest Music and Why It’s Different From the 1960s," was mentored by ethnomusicologist Dr. Marta Robertson.
In 2009, Lyndsey moved to the Philadelphia area to attend graduate school at The University of the Arts. In December 2011, she graduated summa cum laude with a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies (voice). While at UArts she studied and worked with many wonderful teachers and musicians including Justin Binek, Evan Solot, Rick Lawn, Marc Dicciani, Randy Kapralick, George Rabbai, Ron Kerber, Don Glanden, Elizabeth Ross, Trineice Robinson-Martin, and more. As capstone projects, she produced a successful graduate recital and wrote a graduate thesis titled "Musical Stories: Why Liner Notes are Important and How They Can Thrive in the Age of Digital Music."
At UArts Lyndsey sang in the following ensembles: Jazz Singers (8 voices and rhythm section), Vox (pop a cappella group), and the graduate Jazz Combo. She wrote and arranged music for all three groups and was the assistant director for Jazz Singers and Vox.
One highlight of grad school was when she arranged her original song “Milo” for her class to record in the studios of local radio station WRTI 90.1. The live recording was regularly played on “The Bridge,” a Philadelphia radio show hosted by local jazz aficionado J. Michael Harrison.
In the 10 years since grad school, Lyndsey had been thriving in her multifaceted arts career—from teaching and administration to performing and composing. As an arts administrator she has interned with The Philly Pops (2010) and FringeArts (2011), and she was on staff at Theatre Horizon from 2012-2020, serving as Audience Services Manager, Development Associate, Development Coordinator, and finally Director of Individual Giving.
As a music teacher she was on the voice/piano faculty at The Music Workshop from 2012-2014, teaching children of all ages for three years. Then from 2014-2018 she was a voice and piano teacher for students at Villanova University, while also serving as a professional mentor for some of their student-run a cappella groups.
Lyndsey has been performing at music venues and private events off and on since grad school, most recently with Gettysburg alum Alex Posmontier as well as the quintet Jazz180 . She also has extensive experience leading worship groups, having served at her local Mosaic Community Church for the last 7 years.
Additionally Lyndsey has taught private lessons in homes (including hers) for 10 years, and she has 13 years experience working in the restaurant/hospitality industry.
These days, Lyndsey is continuing her arts administrator career as Chief of Staff for author/filmmaker/producer Hallee Adelman and pursuing a more regular performing and recording schedule on nights and weekends.
She is available for public & private events, worship opportunities, musical collaborations, arrangements, commissions, workshops, and more. Please reach out and say hi—she would love to work with you!
When she’s not working, Lyndsey is usually spending time with her partner Kevin (a computer science guy) and their two cats Boba Fett and Jean Grey. They met through their mutual love of Ultimate, and have been playing together for 13 years. In 2018, they got married at Philadelphia music venue World Cafe Live on their 10th anniversary, and they recently purchased their first home in West Philly.
Lyndsey and Kevin love working on their house, cooking, riding bikes, entertaining friends and family, playing sports and games, making music, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
They are privileged to support many local non-profits with their time, talents, and resources. Lyndsey and Kevin share mutual dreams of traveling the whole world together and running a bed & breakfast as their “retirement career.”
